Discussion of two relief blocks recently found in the Satet temple on Elephantine, one from the XIIth and one from the XVIIIth Dynasty. On both i.a. two men standing in the water are represented, on the latter also a king. In the inscription of both the Spt, fahaka fish (Sign ) occurs. Probably the men were venerating a cultic statue of the fahaka, as it occurs in the "Jahreszeitenreliefs" of the Sun Temple of Niuserre (see AEB 64.0128, p. 132). The author suggests a reconstruction of the texts (partly lost), connecting the fish with the inundation, and discusses the fahaka (not the Maiotes, as earlier suggested). See now also Helck, GM Heft 29 (1978), 27-31 and Edel's reply, GM Heft 30 (1978), 35-37. Helck, Der angebliche Kugelfischkult in Elephantine. Iufaa
