Egyptian-British Radar to discover Giza ,Saqara monuments

   Mr. Farouk Hosny the Minister of Culture agreed on setting up a joint mission from the Supreme Council for Antiquities (SCA) and the British University "Birmingham" headed by the Secretary-General of the (SCA) Dr. Zahi Hawas, to make a total survey for Pyramids and Saqara region by the latest means of Radar systems, to reveal the secrets and underground monuments this region.

   Dr. Zahi Hawas said that an integrated map will be made for all the monumental sites in Saqara, Pyramids and Giza region and that through 5 years plan to identify the monumental sights and find ways to preserve them.

   Dr. Zahi Hawas referred that the mission has begun its work three month ago and it was able to discover empty spaces behind the Sphinx which are expected to be a group of tombs of the 16th dynasty "500 BC" , adding that several, important monumental sites would be discovered by the next season .
