« Datum: 22.03.2018 um 17:40:20 »

Hallo

The coffin (sets) published in this book belong to the Eighth Lot of antiquities found in Bab el-Gasus, the collective tomb of the priests and priestesses of Amun (Theban necropolis, 21st Dynasty), currently kept at the Geographical Society of Lisbon. In this undisturbed tomb - the largest ever found in Egypt - 153 burial assemblages were ucovered. Combining new conceptual frameworks with epigraphic methods of survey, this catalogue proposes a thorough methodology for the textual description and visual documentation of each object, having in mind the future development of comparative studies with the whole sample of more than 250 coffins and mummy-covers found in the tomb.

Zitat:
A comparison of the architecture of TT 320 and the Bab el-Gusus tomb leads the author to the conclusion that the two monuments must be roughly contemporary. The date of some finds in the latter complex and the consideration that it was filled with mummies in the course of a single operation, suggest the reign of Psusennes II as the earliest date for this tomb. TT 320 was finished a little earlier, in the reign of Siamun, but initially used for the burial of Nesikhons, the wife of Pinodjem II only. Later, the tomb was reopened several times, and filled with royal and other mummies. The author reconstructs the sequence of events.

Gruß, Lutz.
